HW Episode V - Fighting Bulge and Budget, Being Disagreeable

Part I.  Inspiration for the day-to-day fight

Budget and Bulge are best fought with daily disciple. For some things you simply need to have the ability to grind every day and make things happen.   You either count calories or count points or fat grams, but in one way or another, you're counting something.  Budget is the same - counting all those dollars that come in and leave, temporary visitors to your checking account.

These things can be taxing. As part of the LifeSPARC process we talk about renewal. Using the small part of our brain that is called to fight for what is right vs. what is fun/yummy is a work in futility. Eventually we exhaust our fuel to do the right thing.

So, here's a some resources on how to get inspired, or Renewed, the 'R' in SPARC.

I love infographics even though they're fairly difficult to consume - hard to see on the screen and hard to print, but they're cool.

Section II - Tech

We're all interested in what's coming next, or at least what's cool in the 'cool' crowd.   Tech Crunch has their Crunchies

Finally, don't think just because you're a person who's got HappyWisdom that you can't be inflexible.  Naturally nice people may need to learn this trait, but being unpleasant, or at least not caring what your network thinks of you, is a huge indicator of your potential for business success.

That is it for now!  Stay tuned for the next update on Happy Wisdom Wednesday!

Are you in a Dismal Nitch? How to know and how to get out!

Recently my family and I went to visit a place called Astoria, Oregon, and had a wonderful time. There was delightful breakfast place called Pigs 'n Pancakes. We stayed in the Astoria Riverside Inn, which was wonderful, with large rooms, game systems, and a wonderful view. Yet, most of all, we were surrounded by Lewis and Clark sites.  Are You Here?   If you're not aware, the Lewis and Clark expedition started in St. Louis in the early 1800s. Those two brave gentlemen and a party of more brave gentlemen and at least one woman, Sacagawea, made their trek all the way to the Pacific coast.  On their way out to the Pacific, however, they got stuck. They got stuck here: Now you have to understand, these guys were tough.  Stopping them wasn't easy.  Yet, so close to the ocean, they get stuck in this little outcropping.   Here's how he describes it: Rain soaked the expedition party that night, and it continued at intervals throughout...

Happy Wisdom Patterns

From software development and prior to that architecture, learned people have leveraged the power of patterns.  Patterns are structures of learning that can be applied to achieve consistent results.  For architecture its perhaps the golden mean, the mechanisms to create a bridge. In software , my favorite was MVC or model-view-controller .  This is states that User interface must be separate from the data, and from the control ( business logic or execution) .   I've seen folks not follow this pattern and then find themselves updating all three layers of software for changes that otherwise would have been simple had they followed the pattern. Thus we must ask if Happiness has a pattern, if happy wisdom, the two combine, have certain approaches that would glean greater success than just going it in a haphazard sort of way.   Of course I propose there are.   Before I get into the first few, lets discuss why these are not rules or laws .  The trou...

HappyFinds for Week 1 of 2015 - Topic: Really Cool Old Things including Graves and Tombs

Greetings all, Last year I announced that I was going to fight the tide of negativity by posting postivie things. It should be fun and I hope to keep a weekly schedule.I love old things, which is why my recent trip to London was totally awesome, but for Americans this is old. They actually dug this newspaper from the 1700's up...and its totally readable. I wanted to read it!   I went to Boston and visited the graves there...wonderfully creepy tombs that were above ground. More ABC News Videos | ABC World News Recently I read about Dolmen, which are really old above ground graves... or at least people think that's what they were.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolmen "It remains unclear when, why, and by whom the earliest dolmens were made. The oldest known dolmens are in Western Europe, where they were set in place around 7000 years ago. Archaeologists still do not know who erected these dolmens, which makes it difficult to know why they did it. They are gener...
